DALY CITY, Calif. – A 60-year-old Filipino-American overseer at a Daly Metropolis gymnasium was shot and killed earlier this week in what has been reported as an “execution homicide” after encountering an argument about gymnasium guidelines.
Investigators disclosed that Rolando Yanga, a custodian on the Health 19 gymnasium, was adopted dwelling and shot useless by the suspect, gymnasium member Maarij Afridi, 21, who was breaking facility guidelines.
San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe stated Yanga advised Afridi he was not following the foundations on the gymnasium.

Wagstaffe stated the suspect fired about eight photographs from a 10mm handgun.

Afridi and his mom have been arrested. He faces homicide expenses whereas his mom has been charged as an adjunct to the crime.
“We’re devastated to share the tragic lack of our beloved father, Rolando, whose life was taken far too quickly in a mindless act of violence,” said a GoFundMe for Yanga’s household.
Daly Metropolis Mayor Juslyn Manalo condemned the killing, saying it was the primary murder case in Daly Metropolis for 2024.
“As a group, we grieve your loss. I do know there are not any phrases that may convey them consolation throughout this troublesome time,” Manalo stated in a press release.
Manalo recommended the Daly Metropolis Police Division for “swiftly bringing the suspects into custody with the usage of Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) and different expertise, together with exemplary investigative abilities inside lower than 24 hours of the incident.”
